Samsung Health

Automatic workout detection

If you use a Samsung Watch running Android Wear OS (e.g. Samsung Galaxy Watch 4), enabling Do Not Disturb, Theater mode or Bedtime mode all won't disable the Samsung Health 'automatic workout detection popup'. This means that during the game, a workout will be detected, which interferes with MatchGear.

This can cause the app to go to the background, and although the time will keep ticking, the app won't be able to notify you in case of an event, such as a notification when the timer finishes.

A bug has been reported to Samsung, but in the meantime, you can use the following workaround:

  • On your Watch, go to Apps and select the Samsung Health app.
  • Scroll to the bottom, and select 'Settings'
  • Click on 'Activities to detect'. You do not have to disable it.
  • Scroll down, and de-select 'Alert'

This will not disable the automatic workout detection. It just disables the popup notifications when a workout is detected.

When Samsung releases a fix for this problem, it will be communicated via the appropriate channels.
